This is an interesting little forum game that I'm sure there's plenty of interest for here.
Basic rules are as follows:
The game basically revolved around there existing two factions: Town and Mafia. The goal of each faction is to eliminate the other faction (or factions if there are many mafia gangs).
Roles for each player will be randomly assigned (by the moderator or me in this case.) When you received your role you are not allowed to communicate with each other unless your role allows you to do so (mafia members are allowed to communicate only at certain times.) Theres nothing I can do to stop you but in the spirit of the game, don't do it.
Each game starts with day (some start at night, but it'd gay...you'll see why). During the day all players can communicate in the thread and vote to lynch a player...majority vote gets the axe (cannot be undone with unvotes). After a lynching occurs the game goes to night, where no one can communicate in or out of the thread except roles that allow you to do so. During night mafia members can communicate and choose a target to kill. Once they submit their choice the game is thrown into day again. Process repeats until a faction is eliminated.
It can be a bit complex to start with, but it's fun once you get the hang of it.
And before you complain about the mafia having the obvious advantage - yes they do, but they're also heavily outnumbered at the start of the game. As a general rule the ratio of mafia:town is 1:3.
So, a quick overview of the roles you could be thrust into:
Mafia
Works together to try and kill off all members of the town. Can communicate at night. Chooses together a target to kill at night. Ruthless and cruel are their nature. Wins against town.
Town
Generica player. No night skills. Just a bunch of ordinary citizens.
Cop
Can investigate a player at night for information. Their sense of justice makes them suited to their job. Wins with the town.
Anyone that's interested in signing up, I'll give you a few days to do so - this game will start sometime on Saturday.
EDIT: When you get your roles, they will be modified to be Sonic-related. Stay tuned.

I know this by the name of Werewolf (Townfolk = villagers, Mafia = Werewolves, Cop = Seer) and in fact I've got a PHP version of my own knocking about somewhere; if you lot want to play this often I'll dig it out.

I'm with you on this Douglas - I've played pretty complex games before involving the mafia and werewolves and a whole bunch of crazy roles.
But a simple game is always fun too. :P It would be nice to play. Sign me up.

Game Rules:
[01] Votes must be in bold (eg vote RPG). If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.
[02] Please be attentive and unvote, if necessary, before casting a new vote. This is not required, but I’d appreciate it.
[03] Lynching will require a simple majority of votes (This includes no lynch). Once a player has reached the necessary majority, their pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. Feel free to post in twilight though.
[04] No talking in this thread at night.
[05] The game is not to be discussed outside the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so – and then only at night.
[06] Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. You can make a single “Bah!†post but no relevant information.

Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Cream decided to take action. They agreed that they would go on another adventure to destroy the two evil scientists once and for all. But will our heroes emerge victorious, or will the two Eggmen get to them first...?

That's synonymous with a forfeit, so if you want to do that by all means do.
Day 1 result
The heroes vowed to stick together. Strength in numbers, they figured.
As they weaved their way through Leaf Forest, Amy began to fall behind. Just as she stopped to take stock, Eggman Nega appeared.
"Mwahaha! Your time is up!"
And thus, Amy was eliminated.
The remaining four made it through the rest of Leaf Forest and Hot Crater with no further incident, before stopping to rest and prepare another assault the next day.
Our heroes have to be stronger than ever now. Can they survive the constant threat of the Eggmen?
It is now Night 1 - all players who need to make night decisions should do so in the next 24 hours.

Night 1 result
The two Eggmen collaborated while the heroes were asleep, deciding they should take out the star, Sonic. They decided he was the greatest impediment to their chances of defeating the entire crew, so they'd destroy him while he was weak. At the stroke of midnight, they struck...
Our heroes woke up to find Sonic unconscious. Declaring him dead, they moved on without him, knowing this day would be critical to their survival...
RPG (Sonic) killed Night 1
It is now Day 2 - 4 to lynch today.

We have to lynch the correct person here, or else we lose the game. (They'll outnumber us tomorrow).
So with that in mind, I'll reveal that I'm playing the role of the detective (as described my mike89 in the first post), and that Quartz is, in fact, one of the Eggmans. I know I won't survive the night, but if we get a fighting chance, it'll be worth it.

Though if you also read the first posts of the game there is no clear evidence that the game wasn't already started by the time that I posted that, but whatever.
But Shadow Wedge, I have to say, I don't believe you. First off, did Mike not say he would give all the roles a Sonic theme? So why would you be called the detective if that was your role? I think you're just trying to throw suspicion off onto a false person so that you might win the game..

You don't get it, do you? If we don't get one of the Eggmen today, then we lose two characters, and then it's 2v2 and we lose automatically. I'd rather we lose me and they lose one of the Eggmen and having a fighting chance instead of us losing two and losing the entire game.
So why would you be called the detective if that was your role?
I'm not called the detective. I'm Cream. However, the role that I have is the detective (I'm not just a town person), so that's the important bit.

With RPG's character gone, I guess I'll have to assume leadership of our squad. We have to find one of the Eggman's now through a unaminous decision or else we'll lose our current Zangief vs Cable (we're Zangief) battle. *Pulls out buster like weapon my character has used in previous games and prepares a level 5 buster shot for an Egg Man (normal shot is level one followed by 4 stages of charging which causes user to glow green, yellow, then pink, and finally, an angry red like the one associated with Dark Shadow).

I'll weigh some evidence here to back up my vote, summarising suspicious behavior for everyone, myself included.
Shadow Wedge: Voted Douglas and supposedly declared own role (ahem). Is Cream a detective?
Aitamen: Said absolutely nothing on day 1 (strike from the shadows strategy?)
Stefan: First to vote.
Quartz: Voted off Douglas at the last minute. I mean, it's Douglas. Come on. Also accused of being an Eggman by Shadow Wedge.
Magnum: Attempted to lead the group (come on, leaders are always the bad guys. It's the ending of like...every movie). Was the first to vote Douglas, going against the majority logic.
Myself: Kept relatively quiet on day one. Quickly jumped on the anti-Douglas bandwagon. Posted this.
Personally, I would rank Eggman likeliness in the order of:
Magnum
Shadow_Wedge
Quartz
Aitamen
Stefan
Myself
I'll remain tactfully removed to a degree. I could swing the vote, but I think Magnum is an eggman. Trust me on this, it's more than gut. If it means I get murdered in the night, then whatever. But Magnum is either Eggman or Eggman Nega ('sup nega!).
On the other hand, what does Cream have to do with detecting anything? Personally, I would imagine that some other character would be given the right to vote.

...Wait, no I didn't. It could be two Eggmen playing off each other to divide voting. Stefan, I no longer consider you an Eggman.

I can't fully explain my logic (or what appears to be a lack thereof). I just don't want to. However, I have a possible scenario:
Douglas was killed off because, simply put, he's smart. Magnum realised that and so that he had a potentially powerful adversary, so tried to eliminate him early. Not thinking, I had a choice between RPG and Douglas, and sided with RPG. Thus Douglas died.
Then, in the night, RPG likely made a slip of the tongue in the chatroom, revealing that he was the detective. I mean, Sonic is a leader. What does a leader do? Investigate things. Magnum and the other Eggman (I'm still working on who this is, I only have ideas) picked up on it, and took him out, leaving us with logic alone.
Today, Shadow Wedge had a hunch about Quartz. Believing him to be an Eggman, he claimed that he was the detective to swing others to his side. Stefan, not realising this, tried to kill him. For a moment, I also went along with this. But I think the Eggman here is clear. It rhymes.

The whole douglas vote thing was a really bad guess that I made no attempt to persuade others into making. (I had a 1/4 chance of being right, so I had to take it, especially this early in the game.) Besides, my character is Tails, so that's why I felt I had to take up the mantle of leader after the commander got eliminated (I only took it up in day 2). Besides, the whole 'leader is the real enemy thing" in movies and games typically applies to the first leader more often than later ones.

Didn't work.
I'm pretty much guranteed to be killed tonight, but stefan is one of the eggman. That was a ploy in an attempt tomake him vote for either Quartz or magnum (highlight the message, follow the pattern of logic). I would then retract my vote against that person, and see if he would follow in a change of vote (a la my method above). If he did, then Shadow Wedge would be the Eggman. If he didn't, then it would be the person opposite who he voted for in the 2-2 standoff. It's between those three for the other eggman.
We have to gang up on stefan. Everything he has done has been blatant. Just look at all his posts. If I die and he does not, vote stefan tommorow. If he does die tonight, then vote for Shadow Wedge tommorow. Not to say too much, but he took my character.
Swedgy and stefan, you played this well.

Quartz has remained relatively silent. He has done nothing suspicous, like stefan I have. This vote is between stefan and myself. One of us is the eggman. Note, however, that swedgy and stefan have both claimed to be Tails.
Don't lynch Quartz. At least stall the vote. The waters are murky right now, and a mistake will make the town lose.

Tails, Knuckles and Cream sped through Music Plant without a great deal of trouble. When they arrived in Ice Paradise, however, Robotnik was waiting for them, and challenged them to a do-or-die battle to decide the outcome of this adventure. Unfortunately for Robotnik, he was killed in 5.5 seconds flat.
A closer examination revealed that it was only his subordinate, Eggman Nega.
With only three levels to play, the finish line was fast approaching... but first they would have to stop and recover. How will the night, and more importantly, the next day unfold...?

After careful deliberation, he decided he would eliminate Knuckles without further delay.
Cream and Tails woke up to a familiar scene - one of their team mates dead. Without further ado they continued on through Sky Canyon and beyond...

Ok guys, time to deal with impending doom.
The thing is, I was wrong about Shadow Wedge. He is, indeed, Cream. I went over some things, and it doesn't add up. It was a hunch he had on Quartz. It was a wrong hunch, though. Why would he do something so obvious?
I want to talk about myself here.
And I won't, for that would in fact be cheating.
Moving on, Aitamen has said nothing, and Magnum has said too much. One of these two is the Eggman. And I am more than interested to see which is.
I do believe it to be Magnum though. Aitamen kept silent, and so did douglas. Magnum didn't. Magnum voted right away. To cast off suspicion? Probably. Stefan said that that was why he did it.
I was right about Stefan. I'm right about Magnum.
Think of it this way: we can stall this out to a 1 vs. 1 if we lynch the wrong person.

You know what? Magnum probably isn't an Eggman. Stefan was obvious enough, so the other Eggman was probably being covert. Aitamen, as previously mentioned, has said little. He was the last person to vote last lynch, finishing stefan off because it was his best shot. We know that swedgy is not an Eggman. He tried to get Quartz lynched on a bad hunch. Quartz was killed in the night (I figured he would be after going along with me). If swedgy was Eggman, claiming to be the detective, and he was claiming that Quartz were the Eggman, then wouldn't he still be alive? Swedgy if you're reading, you could have cost us the game. You better not hold out on the voting.
I know someone will eventually bring up myself as a suspicous character. But then why did Quartz die? He seemed to listen to me, casting the vote which turned the lynch around, and likely would have voted whichever way I went today. If I were an Eggman, I would abuse this and tell him that, say, swedgy was an Eggman. Besides which, he isn't. Stefan voted against him yesterday.
Besides which, magnum claimed to be tails a while back. Aitamen has not announced his role. Of the two, he seems more dodgy.

Wait! It is Aitamen! Magnum claims to be Tails. When Quartz was lynched, he did not announce his role. Magnum, had he been Eggman, would have been assuming an occupied role. Swedgy claimed to be Cream. Quartz, myself, and Aitamen did not announce our roles. He would have been boldly dealing with someone who could very easily oust him. There is a ring of truth to Magnum's claim. Let's look at the roles we know:

Myself-Someone not mentioned at all in the topic.
Tails is the missing piece, and Aitamen has yet to assert his role. So, ok. Let's see what happens. Their behavior today should be one of the deciding factors.

Day 3 result
Cream and Tails navigated Sky Canyon and Techno Base successfully, however Tails nearly made a fatal error in Egg Utopia when Cream caught him in the nick of time. That danger averted, they prepared for one final battle against Robotnik at XX.
"Mwahaha! You will never defeat me! Your adventure is over!"
And before Tails and Cream could do anything... Robotnik hit the self destruct button on his machine.
"I told you you wouldn't defeat me!!"
Two seconds later, he was destroyed by his own hand.
And at that point, Mike turned off his GBA, congratulating himself on a job well done.

I was like...THE BEST DETECTIVE EVER.

I see why Quartz was lynched, but if someone is being too certain about something, then they are an important role.

Well, I am surprised about how this topic has stopped. I came expecting that the game would've begun but I was really wrong. I came to tell you that I'm on holiday and can't play currently, but I'll be back this Friday so I probably can. I found a website called MafiaScum (http://www.mafiascum.net). It's a website dedicated to playing Mafia. I could mod a game 2. It would be Sonic Themed of course, and if we could get 12 players, the game could be SWEET! (Unfortunately it won't be as funny as a very similar version because in the very similar version no-one knew anything about the theme! It was stupid, but extremely good for laughs.)
