http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/05/world-to-blame-mario-and-sonic-olympics-sells-5-million-units/
FIVE. MILLION. COPIES. And we wonder why the market is flooded with franchised crap that's only sales point is it's marketed to hell. DO NOT WANT.
Ah well, it could be S1GBA doing these sales, it could always be worse ;)

CASUAAAAAAAAAALS
Either that, or it's because it's MARIO and SONIC in ONE GAME and now all the old gamers from the 90s are buying the game to see the clash they have waited for for ages/would have never believed to happen.
EDIT: Or it's because both the Mario fanboys and the Sonic fanboys buy it just like they buy every other game of their series. >_>

I don't care to make Sonic and Mario compete (however awesome them competing on any level is) in olympic sports. It is quite obvious who would win most of them (hint: Sonic for just about all except swimming).
I say bring on Brawl.
-
DAMN YOU CASUALFAGS.
Brawl better do well.

<SkyL> so
<SkyL> bet:
<SkyL> lifetime sales of brawl will be less than mario & sonic

Bet? Mario and Sonic caters to Mario and Sonic fans. Brawl caters to Mario fans, Sonic fans, Snake fans, Pokémon fans, Starfox fans, Mother fans, Zelda fans...
...Kid Icarus fans, and so many others. That's not a bet, it's a landslide. Besides, Brawl almost sold one million on its first week.

Im a fan of multiple of those series but that wouldnt make me buy Brawl.

wait
wait

what
You're NOT going to by brawl?
-
Not even if I had a Wii.
-
Brawl is awesome and RPG isn't getting it just because he knows he sucks amirite
</rabid fanboy>
>_>
-
Clearly RPG is on drugs.
Because once I have a Wii Brawl will be the first game on the buy list.
-
I'm getting Brawl this weekend most likely at the midnight launch at Gamestop. On the bright side, at least there's some intelligence with purchases. Disgaea 3 in its first two weeks in Japan (we get it in August) has sold about 80,000 copies, which for being in a niche genre on the overall last place console is pretty impressive.
-
I've reserved Brawl. I don't know when it'll be in stock(or if, by the time I get there) but I am going to buy Brawl.
-
Hey M&S is awesome ok <_<

Anyhow, RPG, WHY?

I have M&S because my father bought it for me for Christmas. :(
-
Because the Smash series is uninteresting and not particularly fun.
I suppose I should add "IMO" to that before a bunch of fanboys have heart attacks and shit through my letterbox or something.
-
I don't know there RPG fellow. I kinda like it I must say.
-
I am not a tremendous fan of the Fighting game genre in general which probably dictates quite a bit of my opinion towards it.

If the shitting is bringing on the heart attacks, then fanboys need better diets. I call "Roughage for Fanboys" as the campaign name; slogans probably aren't repeatable pre-watershed.
If vice-versa, I sympathise heartily with A&E (that's ER for you yanks) staff.

SSB is so much different than any fighter out there though...everything about it. The concept is totally unique, the gameplay is far more frantic and crazy, ton's of variation with characters and stages, items that add a degree of depth and randomness to matches, tons of game-modes and ways to play, completely free-form combos...There's so much game that it really never gets old. Plus chucking a bomb a Pikachu's face is always fun :D. Srsly though, it's great, or at least IMO it's great. And it doesn't really fall into that "fighter" genre. Yes you fight, but it's so much different than any fighter out there that you can't quite classify it in the same way.

Protip: Everyone always turns items off and only fights 1-on-1 on Final Destination.

Why would you hint birds?

Protip: Grouping together a small minority of competitive players who want all randomness removed as "everyone" is not a fair assessment.

I agree with you. Most fighting games have health, though this is where you beat the crap out of someone until they fly off the screen. BTW the game Jump ultimate stars has the same fealing when you play it. It might be japanese(which I know some people on here are) but it gives you a different feeling when you play. Anyone else who has the same opinion as P.P.A. on Brawl please check out Jump ultimate Stars(and anyone who reads Shonen Jump will really like it(which I subscribe to)).

I bought a wii with the intention of Brawl, but I mainly got it (at the time) for NiGHTS and Super Mario Galaxy
