Title: The changing of the guard
Post by: yse on March 30, 2008, 02:50:26 am
Ever since the inception of the Sitewide Rankings (http://www.soniccenter.org/rankings/sitewide), and probably for some time prior, I have been proud to sit atop the tree as the most consistent player at TSC. I say that because I have encountered some especially fierce competition in my time here, and I do not by any stretch consider myself the best player at TSC in the face of that.

Today, we honour a new champion. One who has been put through all kinds of persecution: for being black, for using the standard controller to play Guitar Hero, for defending Sonic 06, for failing...

And yet, while staying true to who he is, he is the new champion. Stand up and cheer, even if it's for my demise.

Congratulations, DarkspinesSonic.

I will say, its gotten me to branch out of Heroes which is something I've been wanting to do for a while and really surprised myself at what else I can do.  I'm glad I rose this much in the rankings and my highest being 3rd was pretty cool.  Still, when I bought Brawl I knew what was going to happen...and it did.  He deserves it as much as it pains me.

Even though at the time of this post, DsS was not the champ, he no doubt will be, he is trying to get his S'06 champ back and I could see him entering red in sa2b as well, giving him a substantial amount of points.

But, no matter how much I despise his guts and wish him banned forever for no reason whatsoever, congrats to him, from me... something like this is nothing I could achieve, and I'm not exactly interested in trying either. I'm just aiming for the top twenty, can't be too hard.

I would say smizzla has the best chance at bringing DsS down, and eredani if he keeps to his word about his own sitewide domination.

DsS is an awesome crazy player. He is good in 2D and 3D games and has discovered a lot of stuff in new and old Sonic games. We could say he has revolutioned The Sonic Center with his skills. And the chatroom with his... er... well... For all this, cheers!

He deserves a place as a Prominent Member.

Now is time to you to try Sonic Advance series. <_<

He is champion of Sonic Chaos and quite good in Sonic Triple Trouble (http://www.soniccenter.org/members/darkspinessonic/sonic_triple_trouble).

And I seize the opportunity to ask the addition of SkyLights as a Prominent Member too.

Game Gear games are hardly a basis by which to judge someone's 2d skills.

All things considered, it is still a huge accomplishment. Well done, dss.

Clearly you're mixing up DsS and RingRush here.

Also:
1. Congrats, DsS. Don't take that as an excuse not to get kicked on occasion though. =P
2. Game Gear isn't as big of a 2D strength indicator merely because those games aren't played as often as their GeneDrive[tm] counterparts.

Also I am still of the opinion that mike should fight back.

Mike is fighting back, but the amount of resistance he's putting up certainly isn't enough.

in fact he's not putting up very much resistance at all *runs*

Just a thought: The number of players that compete on a game does not indicate how difficult is getting good at it. Are the players you have to compete with what indicates this. To get Sonic Chaos championship you have to play against awesome 2D players like eredani, mike or smizzla. I think the fact that DsS is champion of that game proves that he is a good 2D player.

game gear games have different controls, mechanics, and everything compared to the general GeneDrive (yeah that's an awesome term) games. When talking about 2d, one normally means the heavily played games.

Basically, claiming that game gear games are a good representation of 2d sonic is like saying sonic 3d blast or SSR is a good representation of 3d skill.

Sure, he got the top spot.  Takes work to do that.  Doesn't mean I like him.
