Title: Activities for TSC Convention
Post by: flyby on January 29, 2009, 04:21:38 am
Ok, so here is a topic for ideas of what should be done at the Convention. Actual details and final decisions will not be made by me, but in order to figure out logistics and what sorts of things would be needed, I want this planning to start. So...ready go.

Playing levels on various games (3D included) and seeing who can get a better time? That way if GerbilSoft comes I can pwn him at Iron Gate :D

I suggest basket weaving, pottery, writing, and dancing.

This is going to be a great convention. What's the Northeast group?

Well, I say we start with a race from the airport. Following all applicable traffic laws, of course. Team Dan will win over Team Mike.

Group speedrun of SA2B. RPG must do the kart stages, even if he's not actually there.

Also massive tournament thing. Somewhere.

JUST NO TSC DISBANDING.

There should also be pokemans and other things for those interested. But we have ds's for a reason. Link cables for GBA games (BYO I'd say).

Also, at the suggestion of RPG, I will be listening to all of your suggestions, responding to none of them, so that what will happen at the convention can be complete surprise. Except...no TSC disbanding. I will confirm that that will not happen. So keep suggesting! :D

I is pro dancing.
And where was this being held again?  I would be a stretch but perhaps....

As of now, it will be being held in Utah. If you have potential for coming to the convention...go into the other convention topic and answer all the questions! (There are questions on the first post, and then questions in a post on the second page.)

flyby/Rolk, how far are you guys from an arcade w/ DDR?

if people want DDR, I could certainly see it happening...  we are, after all, some very dedicated gamers...

oh god I hate DDR

I blame it for destroying my nearby arcades :(
Title: Re: Activities for TSC Convention
Post by: Aitamen on February 18, 2009, 09:46:36 pm
you mean reviving?

seriously, by the time the DDR craze struck, 90% of arcades were already dead...

I mean, when's the last time you heard about a local mom&pop arcade hosting a tourny?

used to be MASSIVE amounts of players and arcades that were pro-based 'cadies... now look at 'em...

most of 'em just play Halo...

on topic, I like the idea of a DDR tourny, because it would be a very different player line-up compared to TSC/GH playings...

On the other hand, yes, if all else fails, I'll bring SSB and SSBB w/ my 64, but I don't have a Wii (yes, I have SSBB and no Wii... I also have a release day copy, to boot... so there ^_^)

I WILL RAEP PEOPLE IN SSB!!!!

because they'll be able to win in SSBM/SSBB, I'm sure...

DDR and Stepmania (with the special dance pad you can get with it).

Also my mother wants to move from here to ARIZONA!? If I may think it will be Pheonix AZ. This means I am only a few hundred miles away from Provo, UT. If my mom is really going to do this, I will move to Utah since it is around the same climate as PA although dryer right? It is mountainous correct, a bunch of valleous places. Although the fear of mudslides hurts Utah probably if it gets that much rain for this. But Colorado gets more rain than Utah so it may not be much of a problem going to Utah.

What are the good things about Utah?
What are the bad things about Utah?
Any good universities?
A good job employment rate?
How populous it is versus Pennsylvania?
Hey it is a few hundreds away from Las Vegas and Pheonix, AZ.

If Catan is not part of the board games setup I shall be most displeased.

I have stacks of board games lying around, just let me know what you -don't- have and I can bring it most likely. I should also bring Mindtrap, which is a game composed of brainteasers - the kind of stuff I'm sure most of us will enjoy.

Also NIGHTMARE! No board game collection is complete without Nightmare.

Also I am pro the rest of that list. I will gladly teach you guys cricket even though it'll probably be snowing :) or at least very cold.

I will make a list of board games we have (or have access to) tomorrow, and also other peoples should list what games they plan on bringing. Also I have played mindtrap and that is great! I am excited for that!

Nightmare I have never even heard of <_<

Outside of it's native Oz, it's called Atmosfear to avoid confusion with Knightmare.  And it's totally awesome.  Mike, which ones do you have?  I'm bringing Harbingers and Soul Rangers if you've not got them <3

I've got the original and the Baron Samedi expansion, though I should also look into the DVD version cause that'd be epic for when I go back to college.

Knightmare is win, sirs...

Also, Agricola/ticket to Ride, if we're going to board game route...

Knightmare w/ teams of 2...  insanity ensues?

Also, I could totally see football being a really bad idea...

I like the idea of Soccer...

regardless, I think that we should avoid these so that thumbs and glasses do not become broken...

THERE WILL BE NO EXCUSES WHEN THE TIME FOR SSB PUNISHMENT ARRIVES!

Wine in front of me. Princess Bride style. Genus vs. me, even though I'm not going.

We'll see who's really better at mindgames.

Oh, and only one cup plz.

I predict that you would predict my prediction that the poisoned wine would be the glass in front of you and consequently put the poisoned wine in front of me. I doubt that you would predict my prediction of your prediction, but as a matter of flair I would psych you out and convince you to drink both glasses.

I'll bring my guitar if I go, does anybody else play instruments? We should form a band of sorts...dibs on lead guitarist/singer!

...

Aaanyway, I'd assume people will be coming over from interstate, and obviously a few of us will make the trip overseas to be there, so shouldn't we plan activities that'll be, y'know, really memorable? I mean you can play board games and DDR with mates any time you want (not that I've played either in several years >_>), but chances are we won't have the same group together again after this event. Imo we should plan things that go a bit above and beyond. Just my $0.02
