Recently I've been replaying & RAing GHZ 2 on Sonic 1, only this time I'm doing a speed run RA.
My best so far is 1:39. I know this can be done faster. My question is; can you do better?

UPDATE: My best is now 1:34. How fast are you? BTW this can probably go sub-1:30.
UPDATE 2: Right again, my best is now 1:29. Can you get all 163 rings faster than me?

Getting all the rings should be a chill thing (unless it's Crisis City Sonic, there, your heart rate goes up to 200bpm)

I was bored & I was playing S1, and I had the idea of trying to get every ring as fast as possible. Since I've already done the RA for this level (really easy to RA) I wanted to spice it up & give it a more challenging feel.

Holy shit, I did NOT imagine sub minute being possible, or sub-1:20 even… I'm very impressed… also you're welcome, I had fun trying to see how fast I could RA an easy stage to RA, despite the frustration I went through getting my time. Was 0:58 frustrating to get? I mean shit, how long did that take you?

The reason I never publish Ring Attack videos is because of a constant want to optimise it lol. Have always loved the ideas of fast RAs, add a little bit more spice to what is usually standard play.

It took me about 4 hours, this includes studying the map and testing different routes. Concerning frustration, I think it's a very subjective thing, some get frustrated more easily than others. I, for one get very seldomly frustrated while playing the classic Sonic games, I guess that also relates to the games' characteristics; there's virtually no RNG, most ILs are very short and when you mess up, you can start anew in no time at all, thanks to level select.
I think the concept of time attacking a ring attack has a lot of potential.
Regarding Sonic 1, maybe we could make a thread where people can post their times and the original post gets updated regularly with the new times, so that you can see all the times at a glance.

I think I'll take you up on that. I'm quite competitive myself and I'd love to see more of this.
BTW Marble Zone act 1 (2013 iOS remake) RA in 1:51 & act 2 (2013 iOS remake) in 2:59. I think I'm gonna try these on the original & see how I do.
