I don't see any reason to ban this. There is a major difference between the reset glitch and just pausing the game on the right frame to save 0.5 seconds

Sonic Generations has a kinda similar situation with Perfect Chaos, where pausing makes the cutscene where Sonic lands back on the ground finish sooner (Excuse me if this is incorrect, I don't run the game, but this is what I've gathered from watching the game a bunch)
Sonic Unleashed has a time freeze glitch in the middle of 1 stage. This is also allowed. However resetting the stage to get a 0 second time is not

A glitch shouldn't be banned just because it involves pausing

I'm also with RingRush here. I joined the site pretty late so the community was already "dead", yet the stats are what's keeping me coming back here. While I mostly care about times, it is nice to be a high ranking in the "overall" chart. So I've been doing some ring and score attacks here and there, and to some extent enjoyed them, which I never expected.

The colour system is definetly nice. It's an easy way to tell which of your stats might not quite be up to par, or which ones stand out as amazing (I still have that 1 orange time in Unleashed that's taunting me... need to make it all red again), and I have yet to see that on any other stat site. Could just go for a "top 10" or whatever, but that's not affected by the amount of players on the chart, so it's not quite as significant.

I see no reason to kill off the site until there's actually nobody left who cares about the stats

The most popular program for splits is Livesplit (Livesplit.org). Alternatively you can use Wsplit (from http://speedrunslive.com/tools).
Once you have that all set up, just add a window capture and target Livesplit/Wsplit, and it will appear on stream.

Personally I don't like checkpoint abuse so I'm cool with this. When I finally get around to submitting stats for this game I'll be doing checkless aswell.

F-Zero. What can I say, I like going fast. I'm not even that much into racing games but F-Zero is too good. GX is my favorite, followed by X and Climax.
Other franchises I enjoy : Smash Bros, Golden Sun, Super Monkey Ball (1 and 2 are the only ones I've played though). And of course the obvious ones like Zelda and Pokemon to some extent.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something but yeah, that's mostly it

Lost World 3DS. They're impossible to do while sitting so you have to stand and spin around like an idiot. After a while you'd just get dizzy.
At first I tried just holding X(?) to keep my angle and then reorient my 3DS, then keep on turning like that, but that always made me run out of time. Standing is by far the best option but my god is it terrible

Hey Blast, who's this Valkry you speak of? Sounds like a cool dude :^)

Okay, I did the quiz 3 more times, answering everything the same except "Who do you hope to get". When I picked Knuckles I got Knuckles, when I picked Silver or Sonic I got Tails.
That question really should not be affecting anything (and it'd be nice if some of the others weren't as blatantly obvious who it would pick)

"You can be very serious at times and it can be hard to make friends but you are caring and will help those in need."
Yup I got Blaze. Was expecting it to be either her or Knux. Both woulda been fine.
And yeah it's nice to see some activity on the forum every now and then

Same as Cyd pretty much. Jon St. John too good. Blaze is just cool, especially in the Rush games.

Wikkity! / Re: Topic 9 - How did you become a Sonic fan?
« on: December 27, 2014, 09:05:55 pm »
As kids, we only had Nintendo consoles. As such, my first Sonic games were the Adventure games + Heroes. I quite enjoyed them (though Adventure 1 to a lesser extent) and Adventure 2 Battle was my favorite game overall for a long time. On a side note, I used to think it was "Sonic Adventure Battle 2". Not sure why. The logo clearly shows "Battle" below the 2.

Anyway, after that I don't think I played any Sonic games until Generations. At the time I thought Generations was merely alright, due to not having nostalgia for all the stages, and not being used to the controls, being vastly different from the GC games.
At school a friend of mine said he got Sonic Colours and really enjoyed it. First I was skeptical of it. My attitude toward it was basically "I don't want no Kirby mechanics in my Sonic games". That was until I actually tried playing it and really enjoyed it. Still wasn't a big fan of the transformations but definetly didn't mind them.

Some time after that I replayed Generations and learned about Unleashed. Unleashed looked like loads of fun and I couldn't wait to play it. At this point I liked Generations a lot more aswell, and it was my substitute for Unleashed until I could finally afford to buy a PS3 for it.
Been branching out eversince, trying my hands at the classic games (and failing because they're hard and I refuse to use save states) and a couple of others.

Dark Gaia from Sonic Unleashed

...

Hah just kidding fuck that boss.
Seriously though, I don't really have a favourite boss. The only reason a few come to mind is because they have great music to support them (Perfect Chaos, Finalhazard, Metal Overlord, Perfect Dark Gaia)
If I have to pick one I might go with King Boom Boo from SA2B. Not because it's such an interesting fight, but because King Boom Boo is a really fun character. I just loved how silly he was, and the fight itself isn't too bad at all.
Finalhazard is a pretty close second I think. Good music and pretty fun fight, but kinda frustrating because of how far you get knocked back if you get hit. If you're close to him when he just starts firing a laser you're pretty much always gonna eat it.
Not a big fan of Sonic bosses outside of their music, as you can tell.

Not expecting any presents, just delicious food for 2 days.
Other than that, I already got a "christmas present" as Plexa finally found a use for a glitch I found in Golden Sun. Saves a couple of seconds in the speedrun. It ain't much but I'm happy about it

Wikkity! / Re: Topic 6 - What's your favorite soundtrack from a Sonic game?
« on: December 23, 2014, 09:08:43 pm »
Overall, Unleashed has my favorite OST. So many amazing songs (and so often ruined by the Werehog battle theme >:c)
Picking 1 specific song is REALLY difficult though.
For Unleashed, can I say that Falk's Endless Possibility (Rockestrate My World Arrangement) is my favourite, even though it's not officially in the game? If not, I'll go with the normal version. Special shoutout to every Holoska/Cool Edge song though <3
My childhood favorite would be either City Escape or Live and Learn.
As for my favourite overall... I think I might have to give it to With Me, the final boss music of Sonic and the Black Knight. Didn't care much for the game but oh my god the music is good.

Wikkity! / Re: Do you speedrun non-Sonic games?
« on: November 29, 2014, 10:30:24 am »
As my avatar might suggest, I'm into F-Zero. My main speedgame is F-Zero GX. Currently rank 20 on the Max Speed ladder. Might not sound like much, but the competition is really strong as some players have been playing for many years, whereas I only got into it about a year ago. It's mostly ILs though. For full game runs there's not as much competition.
If you're not sure why I mentioned "Max Speed ladder" specifically, that's because there's 3 different ladders (charts) on FZeroCentral. In GX you can adjust the acceleration/max speed of your machine before starting the race. 0% being highest acceleration, 100% being Max Speed. When you set your machine to 0%, it's possible to do Snaking with many machines. It allows you to go much faster (~2.5x the normal top speed) but it destroys your hands due to the button inputs required. Any long-time snaking player has some kind of permanent injury from it. As a result of that I choose to play on the Max Speed setting, where snaking is basically not possible.
GX has a lot of speed tech, could go further into it but I'll just leave it at this hehe

I don't really have any god-tier runs, however there's a few I'd like to mention.
http://www.soniccenter.org/members/vallkyr/sonic_colors_ds/bosses/drillinator/sonic This is one I'm very happy with despite being improvable. I was the first to do the strat that was thought to be TAS-only. Just for that reason it deserves a mention here. The 2nd run of that is currently the tied record with Diamond.

http://www.soniccenter.org/members/vallkyr/sonic_lost_world/times/lava_mountain_3/sonic Not so much a great run, but can't argue with a time that has both 420 and 69 in it :^)

http://www.soniccenter.org/members/vallkyr/sonic_unleashed_360-ps3/times/dragon_road_2/day The first time I set for Unleashed, and arguably my best so far. At the very least it's the cleanest run I've done for anything in Unleashed. I've put a lot more time into Eggmanland and it's a solid time, but it has a death. Once I manage a deathless run, that'll be my best achievement in this game.

Wikkity! / Re: How you came up with your username!
« on: October 06, 2014, 04:48:54 pm »
My name actually came from a mistake. I used to play World of Warcraft frequently, and for some reason I thought Vallkyr was the name of the king of Stormwind (it's actually Varian Wrynn. I was pretty far off). "Val'kyr" are also a thing in WoW but I didn't know what they were, so I guess I just got them mixed up.
Anyway, when I found out that wasn't his name, I decided to take it for myself. I kinda regret it now, since it's pretty hard to read (the llk messes with people) and the name is often taken, probably because of the Val'kyr being a thing. I've considered shortening it but nothing would make it better so I'm sticking with it

Kirby <3

I'm only going to list the games I've actually finished... which as it turns out is only 7 of them.

1. Lost World (Wii U)
2. Adventure 2: Battle
3. Colours (Wii)
4. CD (PC Steam version)
5. Generations (PC)
6. Heroes
7. Adventure DX

I haven't played much of the 2D games as we never owned any Sega consoles growing up. Played some on emulator for a bit and they seem fun, but I'm more into the 3D Sonics personally

What's up everyone. I'm Vallkyr and I like going fast (which is why I'm here)
I'm an F-Zero GX runner and I recently picked up a Wii U and Sonic Lost World, which I am now learning to run.
Currently working on getting good IL times and (struggling to) learn the strats. Once I'm satisfied with all that I will start running Any%
Been a long time viewer of Sonic speedruns and I'm happy to start running one myself.
