Hey all, this is Nomad talking about the Yakuza games. For those who dont know, Yakuza is an adventure/brawler game by SEGA, based on the japanese mafia a.k.a. Yakuza. You play as Kazuma, one of the toughest yakuza, who covered up two friends who shot the top captian of the yakuza and was sent to prison. 10 years later, he is released back in the streets only to find all the families in the yakuza against him. Not only that, but 10 billion yen in the yakuza vault is gone, creating much tension between the families. Kazuma now must figure out who is responsible for desrupting the yakuza and where all the money has gone. A lot of people will say this game is a copy of GTA, but thats very ignorant and IMO a false way of characterizing the game. Its gameplay plays differently, its not a basic *mash punch and hold attack button to fire gun* style that GTA was. Instead, a more complex fighting engine was implemented, where you can do combos, strong and weak moves, grapples, blocks and specials etc. In Yakuza, you can enter shops and restaurants or visit game stores and casinos or, if you really must (and dont lie, you will ;) ) go to hostess bars and flirt with women so they can ask for your e-mail =P. The thing that really makes Yakuza stand out from GTA is its more serious tone and atmosphere, where as GTA felt more cartoonish and goofy. Well, I think that should be enough to cover a good portion of what the game is like =P I want the sequal to come to the US dammit! okies, now that we got that out of the way, we can dicuss the game and stuff! Enjoy!
