Colors (DS) versus mode stages?
« on: October 27, 2015, 08:55:52 pm »
Any SCDS players here? No? Well I guess I'll just pretend there are.

You know that Versus Mode thingy? If the old Nintendo Wi-Fi were still up, I could collect Friend Codes and destroy you all. But nope, I guess I'm stuck playing against the COM. (I got over 1000 wins back when I was still addicted to this mode.)

More recently, however, I had the idea of doing single-player speedruns of these stages, now that I have a 3DS alongside my old DS. I simply set up a second player to be idle and started running.

These stages are very different from the main stages in the game. They are shorter, for one, and there are a lot more platforming sections. One act in each zone is also a multi-lap stage.

If anyone who is good at this game wants to join, be my guest. The only rules I can think of are 1. You may have an idle second player on another system, and 2. You may not use items, specifically Boost Steal and Wisp Steal.

Here are my times. Any stages not mentioned in the changelog below I spent very little time on one afternoon and can probably be improved by a couple seconds at the very least.

Tropical Resort 1: 27.97
Tropical Resort 2: 40.35
Tropical Resort 3: 28.03
Sweet Mountain 1: 35.91
Sweet Mountain 2: 38.43
Sweet Mountain 3: 1:05.94
Starlight Carnival 1: 40.08
Starlight Carnival 2: 41.99
Starlight Carnival 3: 1:13.16
Planet Wisp 1: 39.35
Planet Wisp 2: 51.05
Planet Wisp 3: 50.16
Aquarium Park 1: 44.33
Aquarium Park 2: 1:04.25
Aquarium Park 3: 52.74
Asteroid Coaster 1: 48.66
Asteroid Coaster 2: 50.65
Asteroid Coaster 3: 51.64

I'll update these times whenever I feel like doing this again.

Changelog:
[11/01] TR1, TR2, TR3, SM2, SC1.

Find inspiration from some of my old threads here I see? I like the creativity, finding a new way to play an old game & pioneering a competition category. I might be able to do this having a second player idle thing, I've done Versus before but I wasn't too serious about it. I've got two other DSis lying around (broken ones from RAing Sonic Rush) so I might give this a shot.
Rings are my specialty.

Just to throw you a bone, I got a 30.98 in TR1
could've been sub 30 but bad luck at the end killed that
Edit: Got 29.20 on TR1 now
Given that I do not have an extra cart, time attacking these is very tedious and irritating....
If I did have one I would be more willing to do so

You don't need 2 carts, just 2 systems (download play)
