well the trade was almost a wash for both squads actually.  Although A-rod was the mvp--they gave up soriano, who had better road stats than a-rod did last season.  Other than the massive upgrade defensively between the two.  The yankees didn't really get that much greater.

The flip side--Texas is still paying 10 mil a year on a-rod's deal, and 5 mil a year on soriano's.  So they save 10 mil this season, but if revenues decline by 10 mil because they traded him away, they basically did nothing.  Plus getting rid of juan gonzalez and others couldn't have helped the team's performance this or next season--we'll see how they fare a few years down the road when they don't have to pay so much of a-rod's deal.
