I don't have Sonic Shuffle, and I'd hate to have to use Chankast.
I have Gems Collection, so I could do Sonic the Fighters,
but like with most games other than SA, I'd be playing semi-casually.
(I could at least start by submitting what I have saved.)
About other stuff, like the Game Gear games... nah... I have them in SADX,
but there are a bunch of games I'd play first, including SA2 (haven't really
played that in a while), SH (I plan to get a bunch of new submissions in,
once I get around to playing with those teams), Sonic CD (I've gotten pretty good,
although I've beaten very few staff times), and Sonic Drift (I wasn't bad, but I
stopped playing for some reason).

EDIT: Making it more clear... I don't even have Sonic Shuffle on the PC. I've never played it.
I'd have to "borrow" someone else's internet connection to download it.
Maybe I'll get a job, and maybe I'll buy a Dreamcast, and maybe I'll get Sonic Shuffle for it...
blah. It's not looking really likely with all those "maybe"s. Anyway, the point is that
I haven't played it, and I haven't even done time-attacking for all the games I own.

Special Rules:
-You are not allowed to change the default time - 30 seconds - for a match. It must stay as is and cannot be reduced [or increased] or your time will not count.
-You are allowed to use Hyper Mode as many times as you like.
-All submissions and records must be made on Normal Difficulty.
-All other options must be left to their defaults for your times to count. This includes 'Barrier: 5', 'Hyper Mode: On', 'Automatic: Off', 'Damage: Low', 'Energy Max: Normal', and 'Match Count: 2'.
-If you become Super Sonic on the last level, your final clear time can count towards the "All [Sonic]" category.
-You are not allowed to use Hyper Mode nor are you allowed to transform into Super Sonic on the last level if you compete in a Freestyle competition.

STF competition would be pro. I am totally for what Mike said, but unlike Douglas, I support multiple characters because it calls for more diversity in strategy. It's not like the strategy you have with Bark will work with Amy, so why not have more instead of less?

"Times Division"

You must play Best of 3 Rounds on Normal difficulty for your clear time to be valid.

30 sec, low damage, full HP bar, two rounds to win a match, hyper-mode/Super Sonic on.

*note to those that haven't played:  getting Super Sonic is hard as hell.  Trust me, it's not cheap at all.  It's truly something you earn.

EDIT: noticed some things you asked that never got answered.  Tractor Beam Tag was crossed out because it's totally random who is free from the beam and can get rings.  Super Sonic needs a Death Egg's Eye division.  And Super Sonic All should be merged with Sonic All, they're more than close enough.

I love your dedication, you're doing everything (about Shuffle) I had been planning to do in the last few days, that's great.

As for Over the Rainbow: I think scores is out of the question, especially if there is no counter (...is there one?).  And gs93 made a good point.

I also don't think stages is a good idea. In story, you can't decide which one to go to, that'd be long and painful especially just to play the 4th Dimension. And even if done in Versus mode, the stages are just way too long, and it too much random based. Sometime random is good, it you can manipulate luck enough (i.e. Hunting stages in SA*), but that's taking it too far.

I also think we should look at mini-games that are really easy to max-out, in terms of rings, best score and best time. We usually let these kind of stages here on TSC just for completion, but if Shuffle happened to have too many of them, maybe we should remove some.

As for how to get it added, I don't think the problem lies on if it'll be accepted. Hell, Sonic Jam for the game.com got accepted, for purposes of general completion, and I'm the only one who probably even has this game here. The problem is that Rolken is really lazy, like "holy shit how does the guy even manage to walk" lazy. :P And to add to thigns, he's not really here anymore, something about visiting Europe, I dunno.

EDIT: what the- there's a 3rd and 4th page?! Oh well, I hope I'm not too behind on things.

And yeah, I've mostly just been talking about Shuffle, but I'd be pro Sonic the Fighters as well, even though I have no way to play it (except some lousy emulator), and probably wouldn't compete in it either.

^Always love extra support.  And even if there are games that're freebies to max out, it means you have to work at it to get it.  Like Psychic Sonic has a high max (135, 165, or something), but it takes dedication.  And good eyesight.

Updated Shuffle post. Satisfied the proposals of gs93 and F-Man I hope by eliminating sub-divisions for Stages - Story/Versus. I changed it. Still not sure about Rainbow [self-count], and Tractor Beam [when it is your turn, then you can go for Rings; it's skill avoiding them; good competition despite 'randomness'].

Updated Fighters - missed that about Death Egg for SS. Did hangar instead. :P

Doing a post for Heroes soon.

EDIT 2: Shadow Jackty supports Fighters - makes 11 now!

Heroes post is up but I have a few questions:

1. Should we have a Freestyle for Fighters - no Hyper Mode?? Cool, huh? Or not? What do you think?
2. I'm still debating, for Shuffle, if Tractor Beam Tag, Egg in Space, and Over the Rainbow should be included. Any more opinions on the matter?

EDIT: 3. For Shuffle, one of the rules states:

"Submissions for Stages can be done in either Story Mode or Versus Mode. However, in Story Mode, your Ring Score must be the amount of rings you have when the Final Precioustone is collected since there is no way of telling how many rings you recieve during the Final Mini-Game to follow. (In other words: Rings collected in the Final Mini-Game do not count towards your final score.)"

I'm having trouble wording this properly. Can anyone help? And, if it won't count in Story, will it count in Versus? Does that mean we can now only have scores in Versus? I'm so confused now...

Changed it. I would definitely like to keep the Stages. There's a lot of potential there.

We eliminated some of them - me and gs93. Most of the rest don't have maxes, generally speaking.

^Always love extra support.  And even if there are games that're freebies to max out, it means you have to work at it to get it.  Like Psychic Sonic has a high max (135, 165, or something), but it takes dedication.  And good eyesight.

As I said, easy ones to max out are usually kept, for the completion and yes, also for the dedication to earn the points (or points loss since it works in that way). But still, my point is we should look at those that are just too easy to max out, and if there are too many, think about removing them.

knuckles_sonic8, I know what you're saying about Tractor Beam Tag, but I think my point carries more weight:  if there's no set way to end up as the lone player (who is the only one that can collect rings), then it's luck based and not skill based.  And, personally, luck is not my thing...

I tried competitng against myself today, to see if there are some kinks to work out, and despite only having played a few games I noticed some.

  • Why in the world did are Rings divisions split by character?  Think of how we do SAdv3... there's tons of options for characters, so we compress them into one for easy competition.  The special moves/attacks in Shuffle aren't reason enough for a split IMO.
  • We need to note that the default 10 Rings given in the Toy Box mode count, and that in Story/Versus mode you have to tack on an extra 10 to match it.
  • In the 1 vs. 3 games that are dependant on teamwork (most of the 1 vs. 3s have no team strategy whatsoever), it should be okay to record a time if a teammate finishes the game and you don't or are knocked out.  Off the top of my head, Wrong Way Climb and Gargantua come to mind (someone usually has to bait the lone player in those games, so the others can accomplish something).
  • I know for a fact that if I tried to count correct moves in Over the Rainbow and press buttons at the same time, I'd slip.  Or lose count.  And I think the rest of the board would back me up on that if they played the game.
  • How does this next Fighters rule make sense?

those special stages for heroes are for score only right?  also, "most links" sounds good...but wouldn't score and links go hand and hand unless there's some cap on the links where the bonus link score wont go any higher.

well anyway, whatever works.
