What could it be?

Something Sonic related?
A major 2D or 2.5D release?
A 3D remake, literally returning to the roots?
Something crazy, like a Sonic game experience which is much more than a game?

A return to the console industry?

There have been leaks about a PC port of SH and something called "Mega Collection Plus" for PS2, which is probably what the "big" announcement is.

If that's the case, then it's highly overrated.

Those are just the upcoming Sonic games that we know will get released, it's far from being the big announcement.

THIS is the huge announcement. Not all that great... But still great, from the little I read you'll be able to use AIM and there will be agents in the game. A game about one of the best movie series seems cool and all, but I was really hoping for a new console...

On the plus side, it seems that they have plans for a Sonic game for the DS system called "Sonic D". That's what I've gleaned from a translation of this page.

Go over to Gamespot, they got the news in English. I don't have the link though...

Sega to release Puyo Puyo Fever or something on Sony's handheld, PSP, as well as "Project S". They're releasing Sonic DS and "Project Rub" on Nintendo DS.

meh......looks ok. But I'm really out of date: Is the new Nintendo system a handheld or console? I haven't been intensely following; my computer had some serious issues that I just fixed. But, on a belated note: Paper Mario 2 looks awesome :D can't wait for that. The first was awesome enough....but imagine what the gamecube can do with it.... :blink:

The DS is a handheld, about the same size as the GBA (a bit thicker I think). It has two 3d capable screens (at least one is touch-sensitive), voice recognition, backwards compatability (duh), and that's all I can remember off-hand.
